2012. Let’s get this party started.

I don’t think I’ve ever made any serious new year’s resolutions. My standard line has always been, “I’m giving up good judgement.” But I have always had things I’d like to do, things about myself I’d like to change, had thoughts that started with “I should…” or “I wish I…”
Several weeks ago, I started recording these as they came to me. Here’s the unedited list in no particular order:
- Make music everyday
- Get up at 6am everyday
- Read at least one book a month
- Give blood as often as possible
- Make something you can point at once a month
- Do more things that if they were videotaped people would want to watch
- Learn to fingerpick
- Memorize every note on the fretboard
- Keep a journal at least weekly
- Take at least one photograph each day (and publish it online)
- Visit mom and dad monthly
- Learn one new song a month
- Visit six places I’ve never been (US or international)
- Take a 30-minute walk every day (or a longer run, hike, etc.)
This is a long list (14, if you’re counting). If I have any hope of accomplishing all these, I’ll have to add one more to the list: get better at time management.
